Mark Kawar has been helping businesses scale their operations for over 15 years. He started Up One Rung because he saw companies having the same problems over and over again as they grew out of their startup phase and needed to take their operations to the next level. 


Mark has helped companies create their first formal budget, their first employee handbook, their first cybersecurity policies, and their first C-suite dashboards.


He’s hired hundreds of people, built budgets ranging from $1,000 to $100 million, and managed complex projects across multiple divisions at a Fortune 500 company. Most recently he onboarded and integrated 14 acquired companies over four years at a category-leading media and data company.

Initial projects are usually fixed-price, fixed-term. We agree on the problem that needs to be solved. I solve it. Then we either move onto the next project or simply move on. I don't do vague or scattershot engagements. I like to define success at the start so we both know what we're working toward.


I do have some clients who I've worked

I do have some clients who I've worked with successfully and want to continue to work with me on a retainer model. I'm open to that as well, but I prefer to start with a fixed deliverable.
